Spring 2023 -Karen Lutsky + Jamie Vanucchi run a Designing Fire Workshop at the Cloquet Forestry Center with students from University of Minnesota and Cornell University

+ 3/31/22 -Karen Lutsky + Jamie Vanucchi host the Arboreal Inquiries Symposium

+ 10/22/21 -The LoDo Lab, an interdisciplinary, trans-institutional collaborative which GLDL has been a part of launches their website. Visit the LoDo Lab website to learn more about the work and the collaborative.

 

+ 9/10/21 -Karen was invited to introduce and run a 'Tree Time' workshop for the inaugural UMN College of Design Kusske Design Initiative.

+ 8/21 -The Institute for Freshwater Fish website is now online! We are thrilled to be part of this fantastic collective.

+ 3/23/21 -We will be running and hosting a follow-up workshop 'Tree Time: Take Two' for the Walker Art Center on May 13th, and this time we will be meeting in person outside in the Sculpture Garden!! This will be a drop-in event from 5 pm-8 pm and open to all, although we ask that you register so we can anticipate supply numbers.

+ 9/14/20 - We will be running and hosting the workshop, 'Tree Time', for the Walker Art Center as part of their 'Design for Different Futures' Exhibition on October 1st, 2020.  Visit the Walker website to register for the Zoom event. If you are unable to make it there are downloadable exercises available on the website.

+ 8/22/20 - Our current work at the UMN Cloquet Forestry Center gets a shout-out from CFC Forest Manager Kyle Gill on Episode 9 of the biweekly 'Camp 8' podcast. The entire series is a great listen and we are thrilled to be working at the CFC. We will be posting more about this new project soon.

+ 7/28/20 - The GLDL is recognized in the fantastic article for Places Online Journal'The Problem with Solutions', by Rob Holmes - a highly recommended read!

+ 5/28/20 - The GLDL is hosting a summer book club. The first book will be Robert Macfarlane's 'The Wild Places'. Read the book and join us for an online discussion on the evening of Tuesday, July 14th. Email klutsky@umn.edu to sign up and receive the event link. 

+ 9/20/19 - The GLDL collaborators and participants of the summer workshop in Cloquet will be convening in the Twin Cities to share our work, discuss the GLDL, and lead a field exercise on Saturday, October 5th.  All are welcome but RSVP is strongly advised so we can make sure to have enough food and materials. + Summer/Fall 2019 - GLDL collaborators Karen Lutsky and Mae Davenport joined Bonnie Keeler from UMN's Humphrey School of Public Policy on a grant from Minnesota SeaGrant to develop a series of surveys and workshops surrounding the newest water-based projections on the North Shore and methods to develop more resilient community responses.  We will be posting some of the workshop outcomes on this website shortly.

+ 3/30/19 - The GLDL will be hosting the first GLDL Summer Workshop at the Cloquet Forestry Center in early June 2019. There will be a public display + discussion of the work produced exhibited in Duluth on June 13th. For more information please contact us through our contact page here.

+ 12/19/18 - GLDL collaborators Karen Lutsky and Ozayr Saloojee are shortlisted as part of the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism team for the 2020 Canadian Venice Biennale Pavilion.  Find out more about our proposal 'Fluid Boundaries' here.
